ABOUT THE ROLE
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Slide Preparation: Prepare microscope slides and specimen samples according to laboratory protocols and standards
- Microscope Maintenance & Calibration: Assist in the maintenance, calibration, and proper care of microscopes and optical equipment to ensure accuracy and longevity
- Laboratory Support: Perform general lab duties including sample organization, equipment sterilization, workspace management, and inventory control
- Reporting & Documentation: Support the compilation and organization of laboratory findings, assist with data entry, and maintain accurate records
- Quality Assurance: Follow established laboratory procedures and safety protocols to maintain a clean and professional work environment
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a program related to biology, microbiology, mycology, or a related life sciences field
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to work independently and follow written instructions
- Basic computer skills for documentation and data entry
- Willingness to learn and take direction from lab supervisors
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous laboratory experience or coursework in microbiology or mycology
- Familiarity with microscopy techniques
- Experience with laboratory information systems (LIMS)
- Knowledge of basic laboratory safety protocols
- Strong organizational and time management skills

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Lab-based position requiring appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Standard laboratory conditions with occasional exposure to microscopy and microbial samples
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks with precision
COMPENSATION
- Pay rate of $20.00 per hour
- This is an hourly nonexempt position, eligible for overtime pay at one and one-half times your regular rate for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek. Overtime must be approved in advance by your supervisor.

- There are no paid benefits associated with the internship. Should an intern convert to full-time permanent employment, the following benefits will be available: PTO, Paid Holiday, Group Medical Insurance, 401(k) Retirement
